Frequently asked questions

What is mini football?

This is where the journey into organised football begins. Get to know our teams and what we do, and how we're committed to providing the best experience for our Lion cubs as they grow and develop.  Mini football is not just about kicking a ball around but learning the basics, developing as a player and as a person, learning respect for your team mates, coaches and others. Join us as we grow and succeed together. We're glad you're here to be a part of our story.

What do you mean by grass roots?

Grassroots football in Wales refers to the community-level, non-professional side of the sport that plays a vital role in developing players, coaches, volunteers, and inclusive clubs across the country. It’s the foundation of Welsh football, encompassing local clubs, youth teams, school football, recreational leagues, and development programmes.

According to the Football Association of Wales (FAW), grassroots football is about enhancing lives through football by creating stronger, healthier, and more connected communities

Can my child join Llangwm Lions?

We welcome children of all ages however our longer running teams will normally have a full compliment of players and will not be recruiting unless players leave.  At the younger level we will start a new U6 team every season as long as we have a volunteer coach in place.

How can I get involved?

Whether you want to coach, help out on Saturdays, fund raise or take on a committee role we are always interested in meeting new volunteers.  To be able to work with the children, including as a helper or referee you will need to submit a DBS application which is funded by the FAW.  Unfortunately DBS are not transferable across different organisations.

What sponsorship options do you have?

We are always excited to work with sponsors, Whether it is a one off amount to help provide equipment or to sponsoring team kits as our players frow through the years w can find something suitable to promote and display your generosity.

Do you have a Safeguarding Policy?

As an affiliated Football club we have Policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of our players coaches and volunteers.  A safeguarding officer is in place to discuss any concerns that may be raised.

Looking after our young people and creating a safety, enjoyable an inclusive environment is especially important to us and we actively promote Respect campaigns through the FAW Behind the line campaign.
